Getting through Indian Administrative Services (IAS) examination covers three stages: one, clearing the Preliminary examination; two, passing the Main examination; and three, passing the Interview. The Preliminary examination, as the name implies, is preliminary in nature covering the general subjects, whereas the Main Examination tests your in-depth knowledge of various subjects including the optional ones. 4. Candidates from non-Engineering and non-MBA streams should work harder for clearing their Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT) papers in the Preliminary round. 5. Minimum 2 revisions: As the examinations approach, plan your program of lessons with complete coverage well in advance and proceed accordingly. For instance, General Studies and Aptitude portions need revisions at least two times, one week before the exam.
