Getting ready for the
NIFT 2017 exam? Check out all the necessary information for NIFT admission,
from age criteria to application fees, how to apply to dates.
The NIFT is an entrance
level exam that is conducted yearly once by National Institute of Technology.
All candidates need to crack the entrance test followed by situation test/group
discussion/personal interview, to get an admission into UG and PG programmes.

Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor’s Programmmes
A candidate can be of 23
years (maximum age limit) as on 1st October, 2016. For Scheduled
Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST)/ Differently Abled Person (PHP), an age
relaxation of up to 5 years.
Bachelor Programmes -
Bachelor of Design
(Fashion Design / Leather
Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion
Communication)
Candidates
need to meet any one of the following criteria:
- Should have cleared 10+2 exam from any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri-Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).
- Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
- A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.
- 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
Bachelor Programmes -
Technology
Bachelor of Fashion
Technology (Apparel Production) (B.FTech.)
Candidates need to meet
any one of the following criteria:
- The +2 level examination of any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/SriLanka) at the advanced (A) level wit Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / International Baccalaureate (IB)
- Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- 3 or 4-years diploma in any branch of Engineering recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education
For Master’s Programmes
There is no age limit for
Master programmes.
Master Programmes -
Design
M.Des (Master of Design)
Candidates need to meet
any one of the following criteria:
- Undergraduate Degree from any Institute / University recognized by law in India
- Diploma in UG Design from NIFT/NID only
- Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Management
M.F.M (Master of Fashion Management)
Candidates need to meet
any one of the following criteria:
- Undergraduate Degree from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.
- Undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT / NID.
Eligibility for Master Programme – Technology
M.F.Tech. (Master of Fashion Technology)
Candidates need to meet
any one of the following criteria:
- B.F.Tech. from NIFT or • B.E / B.Tech. from any Institute / University recognized by law in India.
Students appearing for the qualifying exams are
also eligible to apply for the NIFT exam. However, candidates needs to show relevant
documents while taking admission.

entrance test 2017 will be conducted on 12th February, 2017, across
32 cities. NIFT is a PBT (Paper Based Test) for taking students in UG and PG
programmes.
